| Rule, Wendy - Beneath the Below is a River (CD) | |
![]() |
A colaboration with Craig Patterson, Beneath the Below is a River began life as a soundtrack to the short film `Hugo`, directed by Nicholas Verso. An otherworldy fantasy about a Moth Boy, the film lent itself to Wendy and Craig`s dark and dreamy visions. Thye were so pleased with the outcome of the soundtrack that they expanded it into a full length album. The result is a beautiful trance-like journey into the Faerie realm. Wendy`s vocals become an instrument in themselves, free to explore the texture beyond lyrics. |

| Rule, Wendy - Deity (CD) | |
![]() |
Wendy Rule is Australian but she creates dark, sensual sonic theatre in the vein of Kurt Weill mixed with torchy 1940s European cabaret. Her lyrics are littered with references to astrological and goddess mythologies, sung in sonorous arcs over keyboard and cello. It`s quite eerie at times, with manic whirling harpsichords, dissonant piano and cutting strings. But this isn`t gloomy or black: Rule is using darkness as an agent for transformation ('I feel your pain, like a driven nail... like the future pulled through an open vein'). Track Listing: Deity (5.15), Think of the Day (6.15), Open My Senses (6.48), Danse Macabre (5.42), Artemis (3.58), Shine (3.52), Bliss (4.27), Full Moon In Scorpio (5.38), Oh How I Dreamed (5.01), Night Sea, and Journey (5.34). |
